Measuring for Bridesmaids
Bust Measurement: The bust measurement should be taken at the fullest part of your bust, while wearing a bra. (This is right across the front).
Waist Measurement: The waist is the most often mis-measured measurement. The waist measurement should be taken at the smallest part of your middle (about 1" above your belly button). Taking this measurement any lower will result in a larger measurement, and you might choose the wrong size because of this. Please take your time to ensure you get this measurement correct.
Hip Measurement: The hip measurement should be taken at the fullest part of your hips. If you are purchasing a fitted gown, make sure you carefully take this measurement. (This is usually the bottom part of the buttock).
You will still need alterations!!! When you receive your gown, remember that it is not custom made to your measurements. When we measure you, or if you call in your measurements, we compare those to the size chart from the company you are ordering from. From those measurements, we recommend the size we think you should order, but the final decision is ultimately yours.
Things to keep in mind:
- It's always easier to take in than let out.
- Chiffon fabric is even more difficult to let out because of the delicacy of the fabric.
- If you are between two sizes, we will more-than-likely recommend the larger of the two.
